ICDS Participates In International Conferences
During the month of February, Saad Eddin Ibrahim, Ibn
Khaldun’s Director, attended several important international conferences on
behalf of the Center, visiting a number of Arab and European cities.
First, he
visited Zurich, Switzerland,
where he met with Adel Abadeer, and he discussed with him the idea of a series
of conferences that address the situation of minorities, specifically the
Copts. Saad Eddin Ibrahim suggested that
the first of such conferences be in Egypt.
Second, he
attended a conference in the Bahamas
under British auspice entitled “Studies Between Democracy and Terrorism,” where
it was asserted throughout the conference that terrorism is a fearful political
means.
Third, he
visited Doha, Qatar where he participated in the third annual conference
entitled, “America and the Islamic World,” attended by 700 persons from all
over the Islamic world. The conference’s
discussions centered around the crisis of the cartoons, the victory of Islamists
in elections, and the United States’
stance towards the Islamic world.
